Housing Affordability
Maggie is committed to creating abundant and affordable housing in DC. She believes that everyone deserves a place to call home. Currently, DC has a housing shortage which makes it difficult for working people to find a place to live. As Commissioner, Maggie will work to end exclusionary zoning and legalize apartment buildings in residential areas to end racial and class segregation. She will work with DC agencies, neighborhood groups, and constituents to grow Petworth sustainably and equitably.
Safer Streets
Maggie is focused on making our streets safer for walking and biking. In particular, Grant Circle needs immediate attention to prevent accidents and ensure safety for all residents. By instituting traffic calming measures and infrastructure improvements, Maggie will make our neighborhood safer and more livable.
About Maggie
I’m Maggie Dart-Padover, and I’m running for ANC to bring practical, evidence-based solutions to our community. As a data engineer with 14 years of experience working to elect Democrats, I know how to turn information into action.
I live in Petworth with my wife and baby daughter. My wife, sick of hearing me talk about the intricacies of housing affordability, encouraged me to find a more productive outlet for my interest, so I’m running for ANC!
I grew up in San Francisco, where I saw the consequences of a housing crisis up close. My mom was a public school teacher and union president, and my dad was a stationary engineer for the city. They raised me to try to make the world a better place, so I zigzagged the country working on Democratic campaigns at the local, state, and national level. Then I moved to DC to work on data for Democratic and progressive organizations and now I’m a data engineer for Working America, a labor union. Outside of work, I’m a cat-owner, a movie lover, and a non-directed kidney donor.
I love Petworth for its strong sense of community, its kid-friendly spaces, and how easy it is to navigate without a car. I’m passionate about making sure that Petworth continues to be a vibrant and welcoming place for everyone.
